New Moon

The moon is a sliver now, but bright.
Ever changing in its travels along its luminous arc,
Now this shape, then fuller, more eye-catching.
A friend sees its beauty as it hangs in the Eastern sky,
Although we are miles apart we share this momentary sight,
And becoming aware that we hold it in common, I smile.
